June Mar Fajardo couldn’t care less about MVP treble after San Miguel letdown

JUNE Mar Fajardo admitted that Ginebra had an excellent defensive game plan for him in the deciding game of the semifinals, resulting in his worst offensive output in this PBA Governors’ Cup.

The SMB superstar contributed just seven points, all from the foul line, as he was held to single-digit scoring for the first time in the season-ending tournament in Ginebra’s decisive, series-clinching 117-92 victory.

“Ganda ng depensa nila at adjustments, quick doubles nila sa akin,” said Fajardo, who only had one field-goal attempt in 35 minutes, although he hauled down 12 boards.

“Yung mga tira namin nanasho-shoot last game, yun din yung mga tira nila, halos lahat pasok,” he added, looking back at the Beermen’s 29-point win in Game Four. ‘Masakit man, pero ganun talaga.”

Fajardo was a picture of dejection as he covered his face with a towel while on the bench after coming out for good with a little less than six minutes left in the game.

And the 6-foot-10 slotman hardly cares if he wins a record third straight MVP to cap off his season.

“Basta sa akin, makapasok kami sa finals, yung goal namin manalo ng championship, kaso hindi nangyari,” the Cebu native said, hoping his team makes a quick turnaround next season.

“Teamwork talaga ang kailangan namin i-improve then kailangan namin mag-regroup,” Fajardo said. “Di naman sa lahat ng pagkakataon mananalo, may time naman na mado-down ka, kailangan mo rin ipick-up mo sarili mo then, bounce back next conference.”
