Prince Harry is set to pocket a whopping £7million in just a few weeks. His great-grandmother, the late Queen Mother, had an estimated fortune of £70m which she put into a trust fund for her family.

The Duke of Sussex is due to receive a share of £7m and can claim it when he celebrates his 40th birthday on September 15, according to Australian magazine New Idea, citing The Times.

In addition to the hefty earnings from the Netflix deal that he and Meghan signed in September 2020, Harry and his brother William were given a large sum of money from the tax-exempt Duchy of Cornwall. The latest estimate of Harry and Meghan’s combined net worth is around $60million (about £46m).

Harry is expected to get a larger slice of the generous bequest than his older brother, due to the way finances are handled within the Royal Family, reports the Express.

As the next in line to the throne, William will benefit more from the vast wealth of the Duchy of Cornwall, a private estate that funds the public, charitable and private activities of the King’s heir. As a result, Harry is likely to receive slightly more than half of the £14million set aside for the brothers.

Despite this seemingly enviable sum, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are among the least wealthy in their circle of friends. George Clooney boasts a fortune nearly 10 times that of Harry and Meghan. Alongside his barrister wife Amal, Clooney’s wealth is estimated at a staggering $560million (£433m).

Tyler Perry, rumoured to be Princess Lilibet’s godfather, has a bank balance hefty enough to have offered Harry and Meghan a home worth more than $15million (£12m) upon their arrival in California. The filmmaker’s net worth is believed to hit around $1.4bn (£1bn).

Neighbour to the Sussexes, Oprah Winfrey, who famously hosted the revealing 2021 interview that rocked the monarchy with its allegations of racism within the Royal Family, is on another financial level altogether.

The “Queen of Media” who rose from a childhood of poverty with her single mother in Mississippi, commands a media empire valued in the billions. Oprah’s personal net worth alone is thought to be an astonishing $2.8billion (£2.2bn).
