Big Hand on $250,000 Super High Roller Day 1
Aftermath
The odds of getting pocket kings in against pocket aces is a minuscule 0.004%.
But what about throwing pocket queens into the mix? And in the biggest buy-in event of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP)?
That’s exactly what happened between high roller heavyweights Justin Bonomo, Jason Koon and Isaac Haxton in only the fourth level of Event #55: $250,000 Super High Roller.

Big Hand on $250,000 Super High Roller Day 1
It was the fourth level of the day when the confrontation occurred between three players with five WSOP bracelets and over $170 million in career earnings.
According to PokerNews reporter Calum Grant, Justin Bonomo opened 20,000 from the hijack before Jason Koon three-bet to 65,000 from the cutoff.
Isaac Haxton flat-called on the button with both blinds folding. Bonomo then four-bet to 190,000, and then Koon made it around 1,100,000, leaving a few small chips behind.
The action didn’t stop as Haxton moved all in for slightly less than what Koon had. Bonomo called off his stack of 906,000, and Koon put in his last few chips.
Justin Bonomo: A♣A♦
Isaac Haxton: K♦K♥
Jason Koon: Q♦Q♥
Holding pocket queens, Koon had the chance to eliminate both players, but he was in third place following at the time. Bonomo’s pocket aces held on the J♦3♥8♠3♠A♥ runout, making a full house to triple up.
Aftermath
At the time of writing, only Bonomo and Haxton were still in contention, although Haxton remains the shortest stack in the tournament.
Koon would subsequently bust to Matthias Eibinger as the first casualty in the $250,000 Super High Roller.
Nevertheless, any players eliminated can take advantage of a single re-entry until the end of Level 10 on Day 2 Saturday, June 22.
