Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry talks transfer rumors

Bayern Munich is always into somethin’…

FC Rottach-Egern - FC Bayern Munich

One of the primary names being bandied about in the transfer market for Bayern Munich has been attacker Serge Gnabry.

A dynamic talent at his best, Gnabry’s tenure in Bavaria has been riddled with injuries and marred by inconsistency, but when he is on…he is on (just ask any team with a London home address).

Now, though, Gnabry’s future is uncertain at best. With a contract running through 2026, Bayern Munich has been rumored to be willing to offload Gnabry to the highest bidder, but with a big salary (€18,870,000 million) and a sketchy health situation, not many clubs have been willing to gamble on Gnabry being able to perform consistently, while also avoiding injuries.

For what it is worth, Gnabry is not deaf to the chatter.

“To be honest, I think it’s a bit crazy how wildly people are speculating back and forth, not just about my name, but also about the names of my teammates. Especially since we all still have valid contracts and are still playing football at the highest level,” Gnabry told Süddeutsche Zeitung (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I want to stay healthy and attack again. I believe in myself and know what I can give to the team.

“I can only speak for myself: I want to get back in shape and perform like people expect from me. I still have two years left on my contract, there’s no pressure.”

When asked if he wanted to depart from Bayern Munich, Gnabry stopped short of committing to anything: “But I didn’t say I wanted to leave either.”

What happens from here with Gnabry is anyone’s guess. The 29-year-old can still be electric, but he might have bring his patented surge of offense to another club to show that he still has the capability to live up to that lofty salary.
