A video has gone viral showing the Prince of Wales not looking too pleased as his wife, Kate, carries on a conversation with an athlete she presented an award to.

Prince William and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) have attended numerous engagements together over the years and presented plenty of awards to recipients at different events. But one event they were at several years back is getting a lot of attention now thanks to a viral video.

In 2015, William and Kate visited Portsmouth, in southern England, to meet competitors in the British leg of the America’s Cup World Series sailing race. The skipper of Britain’s team at the time was 4-time Olympic gold medalist sailing great Sir Ben Ainslie.

Someone who didn’t seem too impressed with Ainslie though was the Prince of Wales, as a video of William’s expressions and reactions while the athlete is talking at length and joking with his wife has been making the rounds. Here’s more on that and what change William made the next year that kept the Princess of Wales and Ainslie less chatty.

The 47-second video was posted to TikTok on July 1 and has amassed hundreds of thousands of views and more than 27,000 likes. It’s titled: “He’s so silly.” But it’s the text in the video that viewers found creative and amusing.

While the music plays over the clips, text of William’s supposed thoughts appears with his less-than-pleased expressions while Kate and Ainslie carry on a conversation.

As the video begins, the prince is seen unenthusiastically clapping and the text reads: “Already hates this.” A few seconds later, William stands back a bit and crosses his arms while the princess and Ainsile keep speaking. The text says William is “pissed off” at that point and “not even trying to hide it.”

The next text that pops up claims the future king is “plotting to legalize beheadings” before thinking “I’ll do the beheadings myself.”

The video has also garnered hundreds of comments with many finding William’s reactions hysterical.

“I could not stop laughing at his expressions,” one user wrote.

“He was visibly jealous of Sir Ben lmao. It will forever be hilarious,” another said while a third posted, “Prince William going full Alpha.”

A fourth said: “The jealousy he has over her it’s soo cute.” And a fifth posted: “Him being overprotective is my fav thing.”

Another person pointed out that the following year, the prince did not have Kate present the medals. Instead, William gave them out to Ainsile and the team at the 2016 America’s Cup World Series. The commenter noted, “Remember how next year William decided to give him the medal himself not Catherine?”
