Paul Burrell is convinced that he is being haunted by the ghost of Princess Diana and the moment he allegedly makes contact with her has been captured.

The former I’m A Celebrity star, 65, worked as Princess Diana’s butler from 1987 until her death a decade later after being involved in a car crash in Paris and later released a memoir about his time rubbing shoulders with the Royal family.

In the upcoming episode of Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted, Paul claims he and his husband Graham Cooper have been troubled by unexplained paranormal activities in their Cheshire home, including strange noises and the smell of tobacco.

Paul believes he is being visited by the Princess’s spirit, claiming: ‘I think if anybody could come back, it would be the Princess. And if she wanted to tell me something, I think my Princess would come to me.’

In baffling scenes, paranormal expert Ian Lawman breaks down in tears and emotionally declares he has been ‘destroyed’ after claiming he has sensed Princess Diana’s ghost.

Ian and Paul then ‘make contact’ with ‘Princess Diana’, with her ghost supposedly answering their calls with: ‘I’m here. Sorry.’

The saga begins when Paul recounts some of the terrifying, unexplained incidents that have plagued him and his husband Graham over the years.

He recalls: ‘My husband woke up at three o’clock in the morning, reared up in bed, and is screaming, “There’s somebody in the room, there’s somebody in the room! I can see somebody at the foot of the bed!”

‘I wake up, bolt upright, and I can see a shape or something; I seriously thought about a shotgun or a baseball bat. Because we are in the middle of nowhere, and nobody would hear us scream.’

Paul says the levels of paranormal activity inside his house have increased as time has gone on and, as a former sceptic, claims that it was the influence of the late Princess Diana who first turned him onto the world of the paranormal.

He explains: ‘I was taught a long time ago by Princess Diana, that there is something, and she was a great believer. I think a little of that rubbed off on me.’

Other strange phenomena Paul and Graham have witnessed in their house include the smell of tobacco smoke and regular ‘thudding’ noises in their upstairs bedroom.

Searching for answers, Paul says he often wonders if the late Princess is trying to reach out to him, and whether in some shape or form, her spirit occasionally pays him a visit.

He tells producers: ‘I think if anybody could come back, it would be the Princess. And if she wanted to tell me something, I think my Princess would come to me.’

As the team arrives, Ian enters the property to begin the investigation and declares there is a ‘female presence’ who has her energy ‘all around’ the house.

The spirit’s presence causes Ian to suddenly burst into tears as he says: ‘It’s really got to me. This is Paul Burrell’s house. I used to read for Princess Diana and that’s the emotion and feeling in the car and now it’s just got to me.’

Bringing Paul into the investigation, the team then attempt to reach out to Diana.

In a spirit triggers sessions, where the team captures and projects spirit voices, Paul tries to make contact by calling out: ‘Hello, hello! It’s me. Are you watching over me?’

In between the static, the team hear a voice saying: ‘I’m here. Sorry.’

Shaking his head in disbelief, clearly emotional, Paul replies: ‘You don’t have to be sorry.’

Over the years, Paul has regularly spoken about Princess Diana, including her reaction to his bottom tattoo and how he claims she would have responded to various past Royal events.

‌However, last year Paul found himself in the firing line after branding Prince Harry a ‘hypocrite’.

Speaking ahead of the release of Harry’s memoir Spare, Paul discussed whether Harry might be attending the coronation when speaking on Lorraine.

‘How can he possibly be sat in a House of God in Westminster Abbey where his mother’s funeral was to watch his father be crowned king,’ he said.
