Princess Diana once used her Royal influence to secure an extraordinary gift for her sons, leaving Prince William red in the face with embarrassment.

The late Princess Diana was known for her playful side, often indulging in mischief, particularly with her sons, Princes William and Harry. Her youngest son has previously spoken about his mother’s “childish” streak and how she loved having fun with her boys.

In a 2017 programme marking 20 years since her tragic death in a Paris car crash, Harry warmly remembered the joy she found in spending time with him and William. “That sort of childish, fun element really came out when she was spending time with us,” he said on Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy.

“Our mother was a total kid through and through… All I can hear is her laugh in my head. That sort of crazy laugh of where there was just pure happiness shown on her face,” he said.

Diana had a knack for teasing her boys, and on one occasion, she arranged a special surprise for William, knowing it would undoubtedly embarrass the young prince. As a boy with boyish interest, William adorned his walls with posters of supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington, reports the Mirror.

Being one of the most renowned women globally, Diana used her influence to arrange a surprise visit from William’s celebrity crushes, who were there to greet him after school. Recalling the unusual request, supermodel Cindy Crawford shared: “Princess Diana had somehow got the number to my office and called herself to ask for me,” she said.

“My assistant was in shock! We finally connected and she asked if the next time I was in London I would come by for tea.”

The iconic runway star also remembered why it was particularly significant for young Prince William, who was “just starting to notice models” and said Diana “thought it would be a cute surprise for him and Prince Harry”.

However, instead of being thrilled, the sight of the stunning women who graced his bedroom posters in person nearly caused him to tumble down the stairs. “I was probably a 12 or 13-year-old boy who had posters of them on his wall,” he reminisced in the documentary.

“And I went bright red and didn’t know what to say and sort of fumbled and I think I pretty much fell down the stairs on the way up. I was completely and utterly sort of awestruck. But that was a very funny memory.”

Princess Diana was known for her playful side, especially with her sons, and it wasn’t just a one-off. When Prince William turned thirteen, she decided to stir things up a bit.

Darren McGrady, the family’s former head chef, shared with Hello! magazine a particularly mischievous incident: “I came into work that morning and went down to the refrigerator, opened the door and I was just confronted with the biggest pair of boobs I’ve ever seen in my life.

“The Princess had ordered a boobs cake for William’s 13th birthday. William just went bright-red.”

However, it seems Prince Harry was quite taken with the risque treat, telling his mother he wanted the same.
