New unheard tapes of Princess Diana before her tragic death have been released revealing King Charles’ true emotions of “disappointment” during Prince Harry’s christening.

The rare tapes obtained by ABC News give listeners an inside look inside the late Princess of Wales’ experience within the Royal Family, from her struggles with mental health, her marriage with Prince Charles, and her relationship with her sons Prince Harry and Prince William.

And in one stark confession on the never-before-heard tapes, Diana seemingly revealed Charles’ disappointment that Prince Harry wasn’t a girl.

In the recording, Princess Diana spoke frankly about Harry’s christening day, saying: “At Harry’s christening Charles went up to mummy and said ‘We’re so disappointed, we wanted a girl’ and mummy snapped his head off and said you should realise you are lucky to have a child that’s normal.” Diana continued: “Ever since that day, the shutters have come down. That’s what he does when he gets somebody answering back at him.”

Prince Harry was christened on December 21, 1984 at Windsor Castle surrounded by his royal relatives and godparents. In snaps from the religious ceremony, the young prince was seen parading around the room with his relatives amused by his antics.

The new information revealing King Charles’ true emotions during the important milestone in Prince Harry’s life comes as the father-son relationship is reported to be at “rooted at rock bottom.” This month, it has been reported that King Charles and Prince Harry’s reconciliation is a “long way off” as the Royal Family still holds resentment towards Harry’s decision to leave the Royal Family and expose the family in their controversial tell-all docu-series ‘Harry & Meghan’ as well as his memoir ‘Spare.’

Despite their strained relationship, Prince Harry is reportedly preparing to have ‘peace talks’ with his father in September and is asking his wife Meghan to join him. Prince Harry is set to return to the UK to attend an event for the charity WellChild. For now it’s been reported that he won’t be joined by his wife, who is currently taking care of their children in California.

It’s been reported that Prince Harry is prepping to meet with King Charles III days after the Invictus Games end. The father and son duo are are expected to reunite in London on September 17. An insider recently told OK! magazine: “[Prince] Harry is more than happy to meet with his father to thrash things out, but Meghan will be accompanying him on his trip to Europe and he doesn’t want to leave her out.”

Elsewhere in the clippings the Princess claims she found her wedding day to Charles “ridiculous”. Diana and the then-Prince Charles tied the knot on July 29, 1981, and new recordings have revealed what the late Princess of Wales really thought about their special occasion.

But in a frank reveal, Diana said: “It was grown up. Here’s Diana, a kindergarten teacher. I mean the whole thing was ridiculous.”

Princess Diana’s latest released recordings were taped exclusively for author Andrew Morton and later helped create the famous novel Diana: Her True Story. Now, other bits of the recordings are going to be revealed in a new documentary to be released next year.

The snippets came out just a day after the 26th anniversary of Diana’s death in a car crash. She died aged 36 on August 31, 1997 after suffering catastrophic injuries in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma road tunnel in Paris. She had been in the French capital on holiday with her then lover Dodi Fayed, the son of Harrods owner and entrepreneur Mohamed Al-Fayed.

Tom Jennings, the producer of both documentaries, told the ABC network in the US: “When the first film came out, people were blown away because they had not heard Diana talk like this before.”

He added: “It’s a style of storytelling that is very difficult to do but I think it is the closest thing to the truth that you can get because nothing gets in your way. It is important as part of Diana’s legacy to allow more of those tapes to be heard.”
