A new book has claimed that Prince Harry’s apparent swipe at Kate Middleton in his Netflix docuseries was the ‘lowest of the low’ for his older brother Prince William

Prince Harry’s apparent jibe at Kate Middleton struck a nerve with Prince William, with one friend describing it as the “lowest of the low”.

Harry made the “outrageous” comment in his six-part Netflix docuseries. The show saw the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle make a series of bombshell claims about the Royal Family, with both William and King Charles coming under heavy scrutiny.

In the documentary, William was accused of allegedly “screaming and shouting” at his brother, while Charles was slammed for “lying” during a key summit. However, a new book has claimed it was not the criticisms aimed directly at him that most upset William.

Instead, it was those seemingly targeted at Kate which left William “furious”. In one episode, Harry said there is a temptation for members of the Royal Family to look for a spouse who “fits the mold”.

He explained: “I think for so many people in the family, especially obviously the men, there can be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit the mold as opposed to somebody who you perhaps are destined to be with.” According to the book, Charles III New King. New Court. The Inside Story by Robert Hardman, royal sources believed Harry was commenting on William and Kate.

As one friend explained in the book: “On top of all the other breaches of trust, here was Harry making a blatant attack on Catherine. For William, this was the lowest of the low.”

Harry also hit out at his sister-in-law in his memoir, Spare. He accused the Princess of Wales of “grimacing” when Meghan borrowed her lip-gloss and claimed Kate was angry when Meghan accused her of having “baby brain” following Prince Louis’ birth.

Royal expert Jennie Bond said these comments would have wounded Kate and claimed there appears to be no resolution in sight for their feud. Speaking to OK! magazine, she stated: “When you come from a happy, united family as Catherine does it’s incredibly hard to understand how people can become estranged.”

She continued: “I think she believed the rift could be fixed and, after Prince Philip’s funeral, we saw her talking with Harry and obviously encouraging William to do the same. But we now know that it didn’t work. In fact, William and Harry had a blazing row right after the funeral. There comes a point when you just have to accept that happy families are not a game that everyone can play.”
