There seems to be no chance of a reconciliation between Prince William and his brother Harry, particularly as the one person who might have “sorted it all out” has sadly passed away.

The rift between King Charles’ offspring, Princes William and Harry, has been widely reported. Following Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from Royal duties and their candid revelations about the Royal family in an explosive Oprah Winfrey interview, their Netflix series, and Harry’s tell-all book ‘Spare’, tensions have only intensified.

It’s understood that Prince William has now severed all contact with Harry, and it’s unclear when they last met. During his January 2023 appearance on ’60 Minutes’, Harry disclosed that he and William were not in communication, saying: “Currently, no. But I look forward to… I look forward to us being able to find peace.”

Probed about the length of their estrangement, Harry admitted it had been “a while”.

Despite Harry’s hopes for harmony, the prospects remain bleak. Royal expert and ex-BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond suggests that their late mother, Princess Diana, would have been the key to mending their bond, reports the Mirror.

She speculates that Diana would have been devastated by the ongoing conflict between her sons.

“I think she’d be distraught that the boys are still feuding,” she previously spilled to GB News. “But I think somehow she’d have got them together and just sorted it all out.”

Jennie continued, highlighting Harry’s similarities with his mother. “Harry is ‘the Spencer’ of the two of them. He is fiery, vulnerable, fragile. Very much in the way Diana was,” she noted. “He is complex like Diana. Likable. Loveable. It’s challenging. He’s carving his own path much like his mother did. He is the troubled one among the two.”

After the tragic car accident in Paris 1997 that took Diana’s life, her brother Earl Charles Spencer promised to care for her beloved sons. At her funeral, Earl Spencer assured everyone that Harry and William’s “blood family” would always safeguard them, providing spiritual and emotional support.

However, despite frosty relations with most of the royals, Harry maintains a close bond with his maternal relatives. Harry’s uncle, Earl Spencer, along with another of Diana’s siblings Lady Jane Fellowes, did not miss the Invictus Games anniversary service held in May.

The event, commemorating a decade since its inception by Prince Harry, welcomed friends, veterans and members of the princes family.

There were no Royal family members present at the St Paul’s Cathedral event, as King Charles was busy hosting a garden party at Buckingham Palace. Prince Harry didn’t get the chance to see his father during his fleeting trip, with his spokesperson attributing it to Charles’ “full programme” of engagements.

Meanwhile, Prince William is reportedly concentrating on being there for his wife Kate Middleton and his father, both of whom are facing cancer battles. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward shared insights with the Mirror, noting that William values stability and is not one to easily give up.

“William is sensitive, he likes structure and has perseverance. He does not give up easily,” she said. The rift with Harry has been hard on him, Seward observed: “His relationship with brother Harry upset him more than he would care to admit. But he found it easier to cut ties rather than allow himself to be continually annoyed.”

She also spoke about how recent challenges have helped William grow: “The traumas of the past year have made him a stronger person. He has become the kind of man Diana always hoped he would be. Kind, considerate and able to take on whatever life throws at him.”
