The late Queen Elizabeth II reportedly unwound at the end of a long day of engagements with a glass of bubbly.

Queen Elizabeth II enjoyed a very boozy drink before bed every night, according to her cousin Margaret Rhodes.

The late Queen, who passed away aged 96 in 2022, was known to have enjoyed a gin and Dubonnet after a long day of royal engagements.

Her go-to tipple is said to have been a ‘Zaza’ – otherwise known as a gin and Dubonnet.

According to former royal butler Darren McGrady, who worked for the Royal Family for 15 years, the tipple was her “favourite drink”.

The drink was served to the monarch with two parts Dubonnet and one part gin, and was also enjoyed by the late Queen Mother.

Although she enjoyed a ‘Zaza’, the late Queen was also partial to a German wine with dinner, the Mirror reports.

Mr McGrady previously said: “Just in the evening. She certainly doesn’t drink four glasses a day.”

Speaking to HELLO!, the former royal chef said that the late Queen was also a “chocoholic” and enjoyed “anything we put on the menu that had chocolate on [it]”.

Despite her love of chocolate, he assured that the late Queen was not a foodie and rather “ate to live” than “lived to eat”.

Unlike his wife, the late Prince Philip would love to try out new foods and got excited about new ingredients.
