The Monarch, whose well-spoken diction is mimicked by the public, likes to try her hand at the different regions. Her Majesty has her family “in stitches” at Christmas with her imitations. She also enjoys entertaining her family by impersonating world leaders.

Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, told Yahoo’s Royal Box which accent the Queen does well.

He said: “She has a great sense of humour and a guttural laugh.

“When she travels through the country she loves to hear regional accents.

“She loves to hear a Scouse accent or a Birmingham accent or a Welsh accent or a Scottish accent.Queen Elizabeth IIThe Royal Family

She will come back and she’ll do the accent.

“She does a great Scouse accent.”

Royal expert Ingrid Seward has previously revealed the Queen is “really good” at Irish and American accents too.

The 93-year-old is said to have a passion for acting which she developed with her sister Princess Margaret during World War II’s evacuation.

Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter told the Royal Box: “She was quite an actress in her early years. When they were sequestered at Windsor Castle during the war, she and Princess Margaret used to put on pantomimes.

Prince Philip went to see their version of Aladdin when he was back from leave from the Navy.

“She loves musicals, she loves acting – Oklahoma is one of her favourite musicals – and she is a very good mimic.

“She has them in stitches at Christmas.”
