A royal expert has claimed that the late Princess Diana would have been the “only person” who could have helped mend fences between Prince Harry, 38, and his brother, Prince William, 41.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond claimed that the two sons “meant the world” to the princess, who tragically died after a 1997 high-speed car crash in Paris.
“Diana was an absolutely devoted mother and her sons meant the world to her,” Bond told OK! Magazine UK on what would have been the princess’ birthday, July 1, per the Daily Mail.
“I’m sure her greatest wish would be to hug her boys again and find some way of resolving the rift between them,” Bond continued. “If anyone could sort things out, it would have been Diana.”
The Post reached out to representatives for Kensington Palace and Prince Harry for comment.

The royal expert also told the outlet more about Diana’s parenting style, detailing that she gave the boys a lot of “love and cuddles” — a difference in the way that she grew up.
Over the past few years, it’s no secret that things have been rather tense between Prince Harry and his brother, especially following the release of Harry’s tell-all memoir in January, “Spare.”
In the book, he alleged that his brother had “attacked” him in November 2019, claiming that William wanted to speak with him about the “whole rolling catastrophe” of their relationship and struggles with the press, which the older sibling reportedly blamed on Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle.
“He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,” Prince Harry alleged in his autobiography.
“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me,” he continued. “I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

Two months later, in January 2020, the couple announced that they were taking a step back from their roles as senior royals.
The 38-year-old also claimed in the bombshell page-turner that he was bred to offer spare parts to his brother and that William pointed his finger in Markle’s face after she got into an alleged spat with future sister-in-law Kate before the couple’s May 2018 wedding.
He even branded his brother as his “arch nemesis” in the memoir.
There also appeared to be some strain on royal relationships after the couple’s March 2021 sit-down interview with Oprah and their 2022 Netflix doc, “Harry and Meghan.“
Shortly after the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, one source told People that Prince William needed “time to calm down” about it all.
“William is the one who is most upset and needs time to calm down,” an insider close to the royal household claimed at the time.

“He has been painted as hot-headed and unsympathetic,” the source continued. “But I don’t think he will back down — it’s whether they can move beyond it and accept that they view things differently.”
However, the two did reunite in September 2022 for a royal walkabout with their wives after Queen Elizabeth II’s death — but it was a united front that reportedly “required extended negotiations.”
The two brothers crossed paths again this past May in honor of their father, King Charles’ historic coronation ceremony, which took place at Westminster Abbey.

Prince Harry sat in the third row, while Prince William played a bigger role in the day.
The 38-year-old only spent about 24 hours in the country, though, as he rushed back home to Montecito, California, in time for his son Archie’s fourth birthday.
But despite all of the awkwardness, Daily Express royal reporter and expert Richard Palmer recently claimed that King Charles is “keen” to heal the rift between his sons.
“I’m sure the King would welcome them back,” Palmer alleged during a June episode of the Daily Express’ Royal Round Up.
“I mean… he’s quite keen to heal that family rift,” he continued. “But, you know, it’s obviously very raw at the moment and it’s very noticeable. While I’d say he’s keen to heal that rift, he hasn’t met his son the last two times he’s been over to the UK.”
