Prince Louis had a heartbreaking response to his grandmother’s death
Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8, 2022 sent shockwaves around the world.
However, no one was more affected than her own family, who lost not just their monarch, but also their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. And Prince Louis, now aged six, had some touching words to share about his great-grandmother’s passing.
His mother Kate, the Princess of Wales, revealed what her youngest son had said while looking at tributes to the Queen laid at Windsor Castle shortly after her death.
The revelation came during a surprise visit she made with her husband, Prince William -and his brother Prince Harry, and his wife Meghan Markle.
While at the castle, the royals took time to speak with well-wishers. Among them was Banita Ranow, 28, who overheard Kate telling children about what Louis had said regarding the Queen’s death, reports the Mirror.
According to Ms Ranow, Kate, told the children: “Louis said at least Grannie is with great grandpa now.”
Ms Ranow noted that Kate, seemed emotional as she spoke to the children. Louis – one of the Queen’ and the late Prince Philip’s 12 great-grandchildren, was pictured with his older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the late monarch’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations just months before her death.

In a heartfelt tribute at the time, William disclosed how his children cherished their holidays with the Queen, creating “create memories that will last their whole lives”. This revelation emerged just before an unexpected show of unity saw William, Harry, Kate, and Meghan come together amidst their reported rift to view tributes laid by the public in honour of the late monarch, engaging with the crowd of well-wishers.
On the anniversary of the Queen’s passing, the Prince and Princess of Wales took to social media to honour her memory. They said: “Today we remember the extraordinary life and legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth. We all miss you. W and C.”
The message was shared alongside a touching photograph featuring the Queen with her great-grandchildren, including Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, as well as her two youngest grandchildren.
Prince Harry paid homage to his grandmother with an emotional address at the WellChild Awards in London. He opened up to the audience, expressing his determination to keep composed, saying: “I’ll try not to get choked up this evening.”
He reflected on the previous year’s absence due to the Queen’s passing, noting: “As you know, I was unable to attend the awards last as my grandmother passed away.”
He added that the Queen would have encouraged him to attend the event in her stead. Harry said: “As you also know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her.
“And that’s why I know that exactly one year on she’s looking down on us on all of us tonight, happy we’re together and continuing to spotlight such an incredible community.”
The Duke of Sussex was later seen paying a solitary tribute to his grandmother at Windsor Castle during a quick visit to the UK. Unlike his previous trip, he didn’t meet with the King or other Royal family members, as Charles reportedly had ‘no space in the diary’ for his son’s brief visit.
