Prince Harry has made a series of bombshell claims about his stepmother, Queen Camilla, in his autobiography, Spare, in which he refers to her with a cruel nickname
Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare made many shocking claims – including what was seemingly a dig at his stepmother, Queen Camilla.
In the book, the 39-year-old Royal appeared to use a cheeky nickname for his stepmother, referring to her as the “Other Woman”.
He has also disclosed that Camilla’s relationship with his father, King Charles, had left his brother Prince William feeling “confused” and “distraught” throughout their childhood.
The explosive book documents Harry’s feelings towards his stepmother, mentioning her 60 times – he even claimed that he and William pleaded with their dad not to tie the knot with Camilla.
In one poignant extract, he narrates how the brothers “sensed the presence” of a third person in their parents’ notably rocky relationship and stated that William was left with immense guilt when Charles and Camilla became an item.
Harry also highlights Diana, Princess of Wales’ famed BBC Panorama interview where she famously said: “There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded”. The Duke then elaborates that his mother’s “maths was off” as she hadn’t factored in the emotional toll the complicated love triangle took on her sons, reports the Mirror.
In a heartfelt confession, Harry expressed: “She left Willy and me out of the equation,” He explained that although he and William were too young to comprehend their parent’s deteriorating relationship fully, they could sense something was off.
He added: “We didn’t understand what was going on with her and Pa, certainly, but we intuited enough, we sensed the presence of the Other Woman, because we suffered the downstream effects.”
Despite being distant from his older brother and the rest of the Royal Family at present, the Duke disclosed his thoughts about William’s struggles due to his “long harboured suspicions” regarding their father’s bond with Camilla. These revelations lead him to feel “tremendous guilt” when his doubts were eventually realised.
Charles and Camilla made their first public appearance together in 1999, roughly after a year and a half of Princess Diana’s heartbreaking demise. At this moment, Harry and William were just teenagers aged 14 and 17 respectively.
Harry honestly confessed: “Willy long harboured suspicions about the Other Woman, which confused him, tormented him, and when those suspicions were confirmed he felt tremendous guilt for having done nothing, said nothing, sooner.”
