Since leaving the Royal Family, Prince Harry is believed to have lost contact with a number of his old friends and one expert has claimed it must be tough for him

Prince Harry is believed to have become estranged from his pals since leaving the Royal Family and moving to America, with one expert worrying he might regret his “sacrifice”.

The Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior working royals four years ago, before starting a new life in Montecito, California. Their move didn’t come without its issues and the couple have been at the center of a royal feud for years.

It’s also believed Harry has lost contact with his UK-based pals, with many not making the trip to visit him in the States. Royal correspondent Jennie Bond has suggested it will be difficult for Harry to be without his close relationships.LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - MAY 08: (EMBARGOED FOR PUBLICATION IN UK NEWSPAPERS UNTIL 24 HOURS AFTER CREATE DATE AND TIME) Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex (wearing a Household Division regimental tie and medals including his Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order cross) attends The Invictus Games Foundation 10th Anniversary Service at St Paul's Cathedral on May 8, 2024 in London, England. “I think we can say that it must be tough for Harry to have lost touch with virtually all his old circle of friends as well as his family. But we must assume that he feels that sacrifice is worth it for the life he now has with the woman he loves and the children he adores,” she told OK! Magazine.

Her comments come after royal author Tom Quinn previously told The Mirror US: “Harry on the other hand is increasingly bored and looking back across the Atlantic where most of his army and school friends still live and whom he never sees because they won’t visit him in the States because they find Meghan difficult.”

It’s also been suggested that Harry feels “lost” living in California, having spent so much of his time in the UK. Richard Kay, who famously wrote Princess Diana’s biography, suggested Harry had “struggled to find his niche” after moving to Montecito.

Speaking on the Palace Confidential podcast, he said: “It kind of feels like it’s been that way for the last four years, I mean he wanted to break away, he did break away, he turned his back on service but he’s sort of umbilically linked if you like still to that same cause because he needs to validate himself. Also it seems to me the one way he can validate himself is through his military links and no one is criticizing those.

“He was a brave soldier, he did two tours in Afghanistan, but nevertheless the constant reminder of his military connection grates with a lot of people who can’t get over the fact he chose financial gain and a break from royal tradition ahead of service.”
