Prince Harry and Meghan Markle savaged by Queen’s seven-word snub that was ‘last straw’
The late Queen reportedly singled out the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as well as their son before one of her most important speeches of the year.
Queen Elizabeth II reportedly snubbed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moments before her 2020 Christmas address, in a move that was the “last straw” for the couple.
In a video posted online by the Royal Family’s official accounts, in which Prince George was cutely seen making a Christmas pudding, viewers could see pictures of various members of the Firm on the then-monarch’s desk.
There were photos of Prince William, Princess Kate and their children, as well as the then-Prince of Wales and Camilla, Prince Philip and George VI.
However, there was also meant to be a picture of Prince Harry, Meghan and their son Archie on the desk. But moments before the video was set to be filmed, the late Queen reportedly pointed to the picture of the Sussexes and said: “That one. I suppose we don’t need that one.”
The claims were made by royal expert Christopher Andersen in his book Brothers And Wives.
According to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in their book Finding Freedom, the authors noted the episode signalled to Harry and Meghan that they needed to confront their place in the family.
Following the Christmas video fiasco, a month later Buckingham Palace put out an official photo, showing the Queen and her three direct heirs: Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George. Despite not being a direct heir, Prince Harry reportedly felt left out once again.
Writing for news.com.au, Daniela Elser, a royal commentator, claimed: “The pudding video, the Christmas address, the new portrait. The message coming out of the SW1 postcode was crystal clear: Harry did not matter, all of these instances dangerously pointed reminders of his hierarchical irrelevance.”

Meanwhile, another picture of Price George has landed Prince Harry in hot water again.
This time, the 39-year-old has been scolded for announcing that the 2027 Invictus Games would be held in Birmingham on the same day a portrait marking the birthday of the young prince was released.
Former GB News presenter Dan Wootton said on his new Outspoken show: “This is also really terrible. Prince Harry upstaged young Prince George’s lovely birthday release of those pictures by Catherine Middleton by announcing on the same day that the Invictus Games are going to be held in Birmingham in 2027.
“He knew it was George’s birthday, he knew the picture was going to be released. He wants to steal the thunder with his Invictus Games announcement.”
