The bitter fallout between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with the Prince and Princess of Wales has long been brewing and has been revealed in a new book
The tension between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Prince and Princess of Wales, has been known for quite some time. Following Meghan’s introduction into Royal life, they were hailed as the ‘Fab Four’, but never truly bonded.
The high expectations that the four would modernize and be the faces of monarchy and being close friends didn’t come to pass. Instead, their contrasting personalities and attitudes towards life resulted in a strained relationship.
This animosity is highlighted in a new book – Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography by Robert Jobson. This gripping novel, currently being serialized in the Mail On Sunday, delves into the bitter disagreement that intensified after Harry and Meghan’s nuptials. It depicts an instance where tensions escalated when William accused Meghan of being ‘rude’ for discussing Kate’s hormones following the birth of Prince Louis.
In response, Meghan retorted: “Take your finger out of my face.” Not only this, but Harry’s memoir Spare also recounts numerous instances of conflict between Meghan and Kate during the early days of their mingling. He recollects a dispute over bridesmaid gowns prior to his wedding that left Meghan crying, and another instance where Kate “grimaced” after Meghan borrowed her lip gloss.
He also recounts the tense ‘clear-the-air’ talk that took place shortly after the Sussexes’ honeymoon in 2018, as revealed in a new excerpt from his book. The author describes how Kate’s grip on a leather sofa was so intense during a meeting for tea that her “fingers went white”.
The narrative continues with an account of both couples expressing their issues, including Kate demanding an apology from Meghan for a comment about hormones and “baby brain” during pregnancy. According to ‘Spare’, Meghan offered an apology, clarifying that such remarks are typical among her friends. However, the situation escalated when Harry alleges William “pointed a finger at Meg”, accusing her of rudeness and stating, “Well, it’s rude, Meghan. These things are not done here.”
Meghan’s retort was firm: “If you don’t mind, keep your finger out of my face.” Despite the confrontation, apologies were exchanged and the meeting concluded with a hug, but this may have foreshadowed future conflicts. The rift between William and Harry has only grown over the years, especially after the allegations Harry made against his brother in his memoir ‘Spare’ and the Netflix documentary series.
In the Netflix documentary series, Harry made allegations about his brother, claiming that William left him feeling “terrified” by “screaming and shouting” at him during the notorious Sandringham Summit. Furthermore, in Spare, Harry alleges that a physical altercation occurred between him and William at Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace back in 2019.
Harry has not had any meetings with his brother during recent visits to the UK, and they did not sit together at the Coronation. As covered in Mr Jobson’s latest book, as far as William is concerned when it comes to Harry, “there is no way back”.
