The late Queen Elizabeth II told Meghan Markle that it was ok if she wanted to “continue” her acting career, it has been claimed.
The late Queen is said to have highly respected Meghan, who married Prince Harry in 2018, and wanted to make sure she knew that it was ok if she wanted to “continue” with her acting career.
According to Mr Burrell, the late monarch candidly spoke to Meghan about her career and was “very kind” to her – but that the 42-year-old though it was more important to focus on being a royal.
Speaking to the Mirror US, he said: “The Queen was very gracious and very kind to Meghan. She even said to Meghan, ‘You can continue acting if you like, continue your career.'”
During an interview at the time of her engagement to Harry, Meghan said she didn’t see it as “giving up” her career and, instead, wanted to see it as a “new chapter”.
Dicussing her time on the US drama Suits, she added: “It’s a new chapter. And also keep in mind I [have] been working on my show for seven years.
“So we’re very, very fortunate to be able to have that sort of longevity on a series and for me, once we hit the 100-episode marker, I thought, ‘You know what, I have ticked this box, and I feel really proud of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s time to, as [Harry] said, “work as a team with [him].”‘
Meghan also previously discussed her acting career – and Suits – at the Variety’s Power of Women event.
The Duchess – now a mother of two – said: “It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit. But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. But good shows are everlasting.”
