If you’ve ever wondered what Meghan Markle’s title would be if she lost her Duchess of Sussex title, an expert has weighed in on the topic and revealed that she thinks Meghan would instead be Princess Henry. Speaking to The Royal Beat, Ingrid Seward, editor in chief of Majesty Magazine, admitted that she thinks this is unlikely to actually happen.

“I don’t think anything will happen to the titles because, if they lose their titles, Harry is still a prince of the blood and Meghan instead of being the Duchess of Sussex, [would] be Princess Henry,” she said, as per The Mirror.

Even though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, the change to their titles is unlikely to happen because “it looks unkind, it looks unnecessary,” Ingrid told the outlet.

“That really would [confuse the Americans],” she pointed out.

A princess taking a princess title with her husband’s name is royal tradition, according to the outlet. Although Prince Harry goes by Harry, his full name is Prince Henry Charles Albert David. And even though Meghan and Harry now live in California, Ingrid thinks it’s best if they just keep their current royal titles.

“The Queen gave them the titles, let them keep them — they’re going to be ‘H and M’ anyway. I think the best thing is to leave them, ignore them, and let them get on with it — which is really what the palace and the royal family are doing,” she said.
