Hollywood star Orlando Bloom, 48, feared for his life when he had to pull the emergency toggle whilst free-falling at 120 miles per hour

Orlando Bloom says he has Queen Elizabeth II to thank for saving his life after his parachute failed to open on the day she died.

The Hollywood star, 48, feared for his life when he had to pull the emergency toggle while free-falling at 120mph during a stunt for his new TV show. Recalling the terrifying moment, Orlando said: “I cannot believe this just happened to me on my seventh jump.

“I pulled it twice, I looked up, the toggle, it was twisted and locked and I couldn’t get it. I was like, ‘What do I do? Do I undo and try and untie it?’”

The near-death experience at Santa Ynez Airport in California happened just hours after the monarch’s passing. He said: “That one was for the Queen and she totally saved me.”

After surviving, Orlando called his fiancée Katy Perry, 39, to tell her: “You know it’s not my time.” Asked why he has to push himself into such stunts for Orlando Bloom: To The Edge, the dad-of-two explained: “Growing up, I was addicted to the adrenaline rush and I never thought about the consequences.

“Dying gets in your head when life and death feel so next door to each other. And that feeling, and that’s what keeps me pushing forward. Why am I doing this? Why do I love it? And I think it’s because I never feel so alive as being so close to death.”

The Mirror recently reported how Katy Perry’s daughter was spotted at an American Idol taping for Mother’s Day in the United States. Daisy, who was sitting in the audience with her dad, was all smiles. She wore her hair up in a high bun on the top of her head and added a gown. For the Disney-themed night, Katy was dressed as Cinderella, so the pair seemed to be matching for the occasion.

Orlando and Katy welcomed their daughter to the world on Aug. 26, 2020, after a stunning pregnancy reveal in Katy’s music video Never Worn White. When she was born, they wrote: “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter. We know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was.”
