An English mastiff has delighted the internet after proving what a keen Swiftie she is, and there’s no debating which song is her favorite from the Eras Tour setlist.

Dog owner Katelyn Redus, 38, captured the hilarious clip of her 10-year-old dog, Miss Mia, bopping her head enthusiastically as she listened to her favorite pop star. While the senior dog will happily listen to any of Taylor Swift’s music, Redus told Newsweek that “Cruel Summer” is “absolutely her jam” as it always gets the strongest reaction.

Redus, of the Adirondacks in upstate New York, explained that her 14-year-old daughter, Stella, is a huge Swiftie and she constantly has Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour playing on repeat. Now, after being around her sister for so long, Mia has been converted and loves dancing along.

“Stella put the concert on, and Mia instantly perked her ears up and moved to front and center,” Redus said. “She danced with such rhythm I could not help but video it. She bobs and sways to other songs, and she’s now a Swiftie through and through, just like her big sister.”

It’s no secret that listening to music can ease tension and calm us down, but research suggests that the same can be said for dogs too. According to a review published in 2020 which looked at the influence of auditory enrichment on dogs, music can be an effective therapeutic measure with multiple benefits.

Of all the different genres, including rock, heavy metal, and pop music, classical music was the most calming and dogs typically spent more time resting or lying down while listening to it, and less time vocalizing or standing up.

Before Redus captured the sweet moment of Mia dancing, she was concerned about the senior dog’s ailing health. In the days before, she seemed “down and out” and the family were beginning to fear the worst.

However, after a weekend spent with her sister and listening to Swift’s music on repeat, Mia seems like a different dog.

“She was having a hard time getting up for about three days, and we had vets ready to come to our home if she continued to go downhill,” she continued.

“We were brokenhearted, but Stella asked if she could just have the weekend with her. In that time, she sat with Mia and played the Eras Tour on repeat, singing to her and lifting her spirits. I came home from work to find Mia up and walking, happy as ever, and slowly getting back to herself. We just crossed our fingers and hoped her high spirits would stay.”

The Social Media Reaction

It’s been almost a month since that happened, and Mia is still doing well and appears to be back to normal. The family couldn’t be happier to see Mia thriving and living her best life again, all with a little help from Swift.

Redus shared the footage of her “bona fide Swiftie” on TikTok (@stellasmom85) on July 2 and it has gone viral with over 736,100 views and 141,400 likes so far. We’ve seen her fans young and old rocking out to her music, but now social media users can’t get enough of a four-legged Swiftie.

“The views and likes climbed so high and I was blown away. The comments were the best, just seeing how happy it made other people as well. We’re just happy that our girl is living her best dog days of summer by jamming out, the way any old girl should,” Redus told Newsweek.

“Now, we just need to get Stella to a concert so she has some of her own live footage to show Miss Mia.”

In just a few days, the viral video has gained more than 1,300 comments on TikTok, with many people quick to praise Mia for being such a devoted fan.

One comment reads: “Never a cuter Swiftie to ever have lived.”

Another TikToker wrote: “Your dog has great taste in music.”

While another person joked: “Someone get this dog to the ‘Eras Tour.'”
