TWO of Ginebra’s modern-day pillars in Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle, as well as the No. 10 choice in a stacked PBA Draft, are off to Terrafirma in a blockbuster trade in exchange for Stephen Holt, Isaac Go, and the Dyip’s No. 3 overall pick.
Such seismic moves were deemed ‘necessary’ by Ginebra head coach Tim Cone upon feeling the need to ‘get younger.’
However, the Dyip’s resurgent core lost two key pieces in the blink of an eye — re-igniting talks on all too familiar topics such as league parity and ‘farm teams.’
Here’s how PBA fans reacted to a colossal shakeup just one day before draft night:
Why?
In respect Ke pringle pwede pa,, pero CStand!!?? Anyare,,!! Ganda pa naman ng nilalaro nya this past conferences,, wong move Ginebra management and coaches,, 😞

Bakit sina Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle??? 🥹😭
Sila pa naman yung nakitaan ko ng NSD nung huling conference sa Ginebra tapos… 😞🤦

Was it really a fair trade?
People don’t look at it as fair because of the teams involved.
Ginebra basically traded their best player, which is Standhardinger. While Pringle was crucial last season. https://t.co/NLcpnovgtF

the Ginebra-Terrafirma trade seemed fair until I saw they swapped picks. That’s what bothers me. Just to clarify, I’m not overreacting; I did say it was a fair trade except for the swapped picks.

Wala na nga kaming front court haha Go and Japeth matitira namin na Center. Imagine.

Never beating the allegations?
As a Ginebra fan, I love this trade. As a @pbaconnect fan, not so much. Kaya hindi makaahon PBA sa mga rumors ng farm teams.
Though, in a one- to two-year window, I’d reckon it’s more fair than it seems. After all, next to June Mar, @cstandhardinger is the next best big sa PBA. https://t.co/WoAaDzBAHZ

I think you got it wrong. Fans are wondering why Terrafirma a farm team of SMC would give up the 3rd pick. Also why would they acquire aging players like C-stan and Pringle instead of developing young players.
— TALLANO GOLD SUIT (@OPINION89279988) July 13, 2024
Medyo katanggap tanggap pa sana ‘to IF wala yung SWAP ng picks. This is in FAVOR of Ginebra, an SMC team, once again. Ang lala pa rin talaga ng PBA! Farm team talaga ang Terrafirma at naharvest agad si Holt as expected. Kawawa na naman PBA fans. https://t.co/GI8JNceGHk

With the No. 3 pick, Ginebra selects?
Its wise to cash in the mvp caliber season of CStand and go for 3 years younger Holt and draft Ballungay. Ginebra hell bent on getting younger.

Ginebra will also be getting the third pick who might turn out to be either Evan Nelle or RJ Abarrientos. https://t.co/glV7U7oX8Y

So ginebra expecting bw will pick barefield,so pano if bw pick ballungay?at free pa si barefield?tandem ni holt at barefield backcourt ng gins?
— 🍌stepin curry (@da_real_totoy) July 13, 2024
