Trinidad was en route to Resorts World Manila in Pasay to meet with Efren “Bata” Reyes regarding a new billiards league project when he was rushed to San Juan de Dios Hospital.

Unfortunately, he did not survive.

Continuing the legacy of his father Recah Trinidad, Chino began his broadcast career with DZRH’s Balitang Bayan Numero Uno, where he gained recognition for his sports segment.

He later became a prominent commentator for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the renowned boxing program Blow-by-Blow.

His contributions extended to the sports division of GMA until the early 2020s.

In 2000, he assumed the role of commissioner of the Philippine Basketball League, succeeding Yeng Guiao.

His tenure marked a pivotal period in Philippine basketball administration, notably playing a key role in reform efforts that led to the establishment of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).

Known for his fearless commentary style, Trinidad’s last program was co-hosting DZME’s Larong Pilipino alongside Erel Cabatbat.

Trinidad leaves behind a lasting impact on Philippine sports and a legacy of dedication to the coverage and promotion of sports throughout the country.
