A new book from royal expert Robert Hardman has revealed some major bomshells, including the late Queen’s anger at the name of her great-granddaughter Princess Lilibet

Royal expert Royal Hardman’s new book, Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story, contains a number of bombshell revelations about the royal family, including what the late Queen Elizabeth II really thought about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to name their daughter Lilibet.

The book also reveals the cheeky nickname the Parker Bowles family gave to the now Queen Camilla, and why Prince Andrew will not be cast out of the royal circle.

The book, which will be published on 18 January is already causing a stir among royal watchers thanks to the major bombshells littered throughout its pages.

Here are just five of the major bombshells from the Charles III: New King…

Robert Hardman’s new book Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story has revealed a number of major royal bombshells

The Queen’s anger at Meghan and Harry

One of the biggest bombshells from the book is that the late Queen Elizabeth was left angered at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to name their daughter Lilibet.

Lilibet was the childhood nickname of the Queen, and following the announcement that they had welcomed a daughter, Meghan and Harry had claimed that the monarch had given her blessing to give their daughter the name.

However, Robert now claims that the Queen had not been consulted on the name choice, with a royal aide later telling him that she had been “as angry as I’d ever seen her” at the Sussexes’ claim.

And a source has since told MailOnline that upon hearing that the Sussexes had named their daughter Lilibet, the Queen had said: “I don’t own the palaces, I don’t own the paintings, the only thing I own is my name. And now they’ve taken that.”

Queen Camilla’s cheeky nickname

Prior to marrying into the Royal family, the Parker-Bowles family opted for a rather royal-adjacent nickname for Camilla, according to Robert.

Revealing that her family had taken to calling her Lorraine — a play on la reine, which is French for the Queen, Robert wrote: “She always saw the funny side of that — even if Prince Charles did not.”

Prince Andrew will not be ‘cast out’

Robert has also revealed that Prince Andrew will not be cast out of the royal circle, despite continued backlash due to his friendship with convicted peadophile and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

According to one royal insider, it’s thought that King Charles has decided that his brother “could be far more damaging outside the loop.”

The Prince had paid a £12 million settlement to Virginia Giuffre, after she claimed he had sexually assaulted her on three occasions when she was under the age of 18, and had been trafficked by Epstein and his co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell. Andrew has always vehemently denied the allegations.

Plans were laid out for a potential regency

In Queen Elizabeth’s final years, plans were discussed for Charles, then the Prince of Wales, to become Prince Regent, the first since 1811.

Robert writes that he was told by a royal aide that plans had been prepared by the Palace for Charles to become regent should the Queen suffer a slow deterioration or “sudden public collapse.”

These plans ranged from a “regency-lite” with minimal involvement from Charles, to a “reversible regency.” However, Charles was said to be rather reluctant to discuss the topics when approached by royal aides.

Relations with Harry still strained after ‘low blow’ to Kate

The relationship between Prince Harry and the rest of the Royal family remained rather strained following the release of the Sussexes Netflix docu-series back in 2022.

In one episode of the series, Harry said male members of the royal family have a tendency to marry someone who “fits the mould” – something he did not do.

Prince William is said to have interpreted this as an attack on his wife Kate Middleton, as Robert writes: “On top of all the other breaches of trust, here was Harry making a blatant attack on Catherine. For William, this was the lowest of the low.”
